Alfaro en la Cumbre Mundial de Alcaldes por el cambio climático

El intendente de San Miguel de Tucumán Germán Alfaro participó de un encuentro con otros 34 intendentes de todo el país liderado por el jefe de Gobierno de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta. La reunión, realizada en Rosario, es un nuevo encuentro de ciudades argentinas de cara a la Cumbre Mundial de Alcaldes de C40, que se realizará en octubre en Buenos Aires. El intendente de Rosario, Pablo Javkin, fue el anfitrión del encuentro en esta oportunidad.

“Las políticas para luchar contra el cambio climático son fundamentales para garantizar el bienestar y la calidad de vida de las personas. En la Cumbre Mundial de Alcaldes de C40, las ciudades argentinas tenemos una oportunidad de mostrarle al mundo todo nuestro potencial y promover juntas un mayor acceso al financiamiento internacional para proyectos locales de acción climática”, indicó Rodríguez Larreta.

La reunión, realizada en Galpón 11, es parte del Camino Federal Hacia la Cumbre de C40, una serie de encuentros previos de ciudades argentinas, que comenzó en abril en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. En esta oportunidad, los intendentes debatieron sobre el acceso de las ciudades a financiamiento verde para promover la realización de proyectos de mitigación y adaptación al cambio climático a nivel local. Así, se busca lograr un compromiso de los gobiernos locales, instituciones financieras internacionales y bancos multilaterales de desarrollo para asegurar el acceso al financiamiento para infraestructura con el objetivo de combatir y adaptarse al cambio climático.

La Cumbre Mundial de Alcaldes de C40 es el evento internacional sobre cambio climático más importante a nivel de las ciudades, que se realizará en octubre en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Bajo el lema “Unidos en acción”, la Cumbre de este año tendrá tres ejes de trabajo: ciudades de bienestar, recuperación verde y justa, y acceso al financiamiento. Además, el 19 de octubre se realizará el Foro Urbano Federal, donde los intendentes presentarán una Declaración de Ciudades Argentinas con compromisos locales en la acción climática.

Contó con la exposición de expertos, organismos internacionales y el estudio de caso de ciudades. Entre ellos, se destaca la presencia de Victoria Sistos, Directora de Planeación y Coordinación de Políticas de la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente (SESMA) de la Ciudad de México.

Además, en el marco del encuentro, Ricardo Bertolino, secretario ejecutivo de la Red de Municipios Frente al Cambio Climático (RAMCC), firmó una carta de intención junto a intendentes del Consejo Directivo de la organización para potenciar el compromiso con la acción climática en municipios de todo el país. Integran la RAMCC más de 250 ciudades argentinas.
