Aníbal Fernández vuelve al hockey

El político asumirá su segundo mandato en la Confederación, a la que renunció antes de los Juegos Olímpicos de Río 2016.
El abogado y dirigente político Aníbal Fernández resultó electo por unanimidad como presidente de la Confederación Argentina de Hockey (CAH). Así, asumirá su segundo mandato, luego de que el primero terminara con su renuncia antes de los Juegos Olímpicos de Río 2016.
«Me llamaron dirigentes y con sumo placer atesoro el llamado de varios jugadores, invitándome y me satisfizo la idea. Creo que hay mucho por hacer y vamos a colaborar para hacerlo«, dijo el interventor de Yacimientos Carboníferos de Río Turbio (YCRT), que ocupará el máximo cargo en la Confederación nuevamente, después de ser elegido en 2013 y renunciar en 2016.
En aquella oportunidad, el Chapa Retegui, actual Head Coach de los seleccionados y DT de Las Leonas, lo había convencido para presentarse a las elecciones. «No era para nada fácil, me animé, me postulé, competí y gané. Fue el 27 de abril de 2013», recordó.
«Tenía en la cabeza, como ahora, un montón de cosas y por ello, el 2 de junio viajé a Barcelona para hablar con el presidente de la FIH. Me recibió con mucha calidez, le hablé de mis ambiciones, entre ellas que el seleccionado de caballeros fuera top 5 en el mundo. La historia ya la conocen: medalla de oro en los Juegos Olímpicos y primeros en el ranking», remarcó en la web de la CAH.
Sobre aquella renuncia, el jefe de Gabinete de los gobiernos de Néstor Kirchner y Cristina Fernández explicó: «Que soy un político profesional, no es novedad. Por supuesto que no se mezcla con el hockey. Hubo en nuestro país un período de cuatro años donde nos persiguieron, incomprensiblemente y con saña. Comprendí que por hacerle mal a mi persona, le harían mal al hockey«.
«Viajé a Londres para reunirme con el presidente de la FIH a quien comuniqué mi idea de renunciar. Me acompañó en la decisión y me felicitó porque le prometí que haría muchas cosas y terminaría cumpliéndolas en el 100 por ciento de los casos. Todo lo que nos propusimos se logró», agregó.
Cinco años después, el máximo dirigente cree que se encontrará con «un muy buen hockey, de un muy buen nivel». «Los argentinos somos distintos, nos respetan en el mundo y queremos valernos de eso para seguir siendo respetados. Hay que apostar para ocupar el lugar estratégico que tenemos en el mundo», afirmó.
Entre las ideas de Aníbal Fernández para su segundo mandato se destaca la de cambiar el estatuto. «Es viejo, poco claro, hay que aggionarnarlo. Para ello y gracias a estas herramientas como el zoom que nos deja la pandemia, será una decisión horizontal y de aprobación nacional», explicó.
«Hay que hacer un buen trabajo con la atención al afiliado. Hay que trabajar con esquemas muy positivos de desarrollo de campeonatos, con un potente esquema de capacitación, con los jugadoras y jugadores del interior. Hay que proponerse trabajar con proyectos. Apostar a los proyectos con tiempo, para darles la oportunidad a los técnicos de que perfilen su idea. Es necesario además saber financiar toda la tarea que se lleva a la práctica», enumeró sus desafíos.
Asimismo, Fernández confirmó que los cuerpos técnicos de los seleccionados continuarán en sus cargos. «Quedan tres meses para los Juegos Olímpicos y poco tiempo más para los próximos Mundiales. Después se hará un análisis de los trabajos», destacó.
Por su parte, el presidente saliente de la CAH, Miguel Grasso, confió que hace un año tuvo «la primera charla con Aníbal» y desde entonces creyó «que era la persona indicada para seguir» lo que habían iniciado. «Estoy totalmente convencido de que está a la altura para conducir a la Confederación, contando también con la experiencia de su gestión anterior que le sirvió para aprender como hemos aprendido todos», comentó.
