A diferencia de la provincia de Buenos Aires, donde la segmentación de tarifas pone en riesgo el subsidio para clientes domiciliarios del suministro de energía eléctrica, gas y agua, en la provincia de Tucumán aún no hay definiciones sobre lo que ocurrirá con el precio por este último servicio.
Según ha trascendido desde la Casa de Gobierno, se esperan mayores detalles del plan tarifario que ejecutará el Ministerio de Economía que conduce Sergio Massa para avanzar con la segmentación de los 300.000 hogares que pagan por el suministro de agua en este territorio.
Por el momento, la tarifa se mantiene congelada desde el año pasado cuando el gobierno provincial aseguró que no habrá incrementos debido a la situación económica de los tucumanos. Panorama que ha empeorado debido al avance incontrolable de la inflación.
Cuando en Casa de Gobierno tomen la determinación de generar incrementos en la factura del agua, el reajuste tendría que ser en torno de un 31%, tomando como referencia los $900 promedio que se paga actualmente por el servicio de agua y cloaca.

En Tucumán hay 80.000 usuarios que son beneficiados con este programa. A ello también hay que sumarle las conexiones clandestinas en asentamientos y lugares en donde la gente vive en condiciones extremadamente precarias.
Al igual que las medidas que se tomaron con la energía, el problema radica en el consumo y el desperdicio de líquidos. También las pérdidas de agua potable que no fueron solucionadas por al SAT y otras que van apareciendo con el tiempo.
Según las estadísticas, un tucumano consume 300 litros de agua por día en distintas actividades, casi 50 litros más del uso promedio para una persona de acuerdo con las mediciones de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS).
