El coronavirus también puede alojarse en los oídos
Investigadores de la Facultad de Medicina Johns Hopkins (EE.UU.) estudiaron los casos de tres pacientes que dieron positivo al covid-19 y luego fallecieron por causa de la enfermedad.
Una de esas personas era un hombre de unos 60 años; la segunda, una mujer de 60; y la tercera, otra de 80. Los especialistas tomaron muestras con isopos y encontraron que en dos de ellos el virus había llegado al oído mastoideo o medio, recoge Daily Mail.
La mujer de 80 años tenía el coronavirus solo en el oído medio derecho, mientras que en el hombre de 60 años se detectó el patógeno en las mastoides izquierda y derecha, además de en los oídos medio de ambos lados.
En base a los resultados, los autores del estudio recomiendan que antes de realizar procedimientos de otología, los médicos deben someter a sus pacientes a pruebas para detectar el coronavirus en el oído y así evitar la propagación del patógeno.
