Emmanuel Macron fue reelecto como presidente
El actual mandatario obtuvo el 58,2% de los votos, según encuestas en boca de urnas, y gobernará por cinco años más. La ultraderechista Marine Le Pen logró el 41,8% y reconoció la derrota.
Igual que en 2017, derrotó en el balotaje a la candidata de ultraderecha Marine Le Pen, aunque esta vez por margen menos holgado. Aquella vez, Macron había reunido 66,1% de los sufragios.
Le Pen reconoció inmediatamente la derrota, al sostener que «el resultado representa en sí mismo una brillante victoria» y prometer que permanecerá actuando en política. «Continuaré mi compromiso por Francia y los franceses. Libraré esta batalla», dijo.
También la Unión Europea (UE) reaccionó sin demora. «Podemos contar con Francia cinco años más», afirmó el presidente del Consejo Europeo, Charles Michel, en Twitter.
«Estoy encantada de poder continuar nuestra excelente cooperación», dijo por la misma vía la presidenta de la Comisión Europea, Ursula von der Leyen.
