Fabricante de bicicletas aumentará un 50% su producción
Con más de 50 años en el mercado, la empresa de bicicletas Olmo sigue creciendo. Desde el corazón de Morón, en pleno conurbano bonaerense produce un promedio de 35.000 bicicletas anuales y comercializa equipos de fitness que importa. Pese a que su planta estuvo cerrada con la pandemia, arrancó la producción y no paró. El ritmo es tal, que anuncia un plan de inversión para aumentar un 50% la producción de su planta en 2021 y ya comenzó la búsqueda de personal.
Sergio Berman, director de Olmo, contó a BAE Negocios cómo sobrellevaron el desembarco de la pandemia: “Desde los últimos meses, tenemos una altísima demanda. Inicialmente se nos disparó la venta de equipos de fitness hogareños. La bici como no se podía salir a la calle, no había ni venta ni producción. Después de dos meses cerrados, a partir de junio se disparó la venta de bicicletas como en todo el mundo. Pero esta super demanda trajo aparejada mucha demora en la entrega y un muy fuerte aumento en la venta de partes de origen chino”.
En Argentina hay alrededor de 20 fabricantes de bicicletas, pero no todo se fabrica en el país. ”En nuestros modelos tenemos un 80% de integración nacional, pero en mountain bikes, hay una mayor incidencia de partes importadas. Cuando salimos a comprar bicipartes nos encontramos con seis meses de espera, en lugar de dos o tres meses y con aumentos de precios muy altos. No sólo suben los precios de las bicipartes, también el acero o aluminio, hay tensiones en la producción de la materia prima”, dijo el fabricante.
Con un plantel de 45 trabajadores, de los cuales diez no pueden ir por ser de riesgo, sigue con un turno de producción. Desde Morón producen un promedio de 35.000 bicicletas anuales. “Hace seis años o siete años, vendíamos la misma cantidad de equipos de fitness que de bicicletas, luego la venta cayó en picada y apenas, se vende el 20%. Durante los cuatro años del gobierno anterior, cayó todos los años. En la cuarentena fue una explosión. Habremos vendido un 40% más de equipos y un 50% más de bicicletas. Para poder comprar un equipos hay que esperar entre seis y ocho meses. Al no poder abastecer la demanda, nos podemos medir cuanto creció”.
Olmo no es la marca líder en volumen, pero tiene mucha historia y alcance nacional. Si bien no fabrican el cuadro, diseñan todos los modelos y los mandan a producir a China, luego los ensamblan y comercializan en Argentina.
Las bicicletas para chicos arrancan en los $15.000, las mountain bike de adultos con freno a disco cotizan desde los $30.000. Las bici de paseo, según el modelo, rondan entre los $20.000 y $30.000. Confían que el Día de la Madre y las fiestas serán dos buenas ocasiones para aumentar la demanda. Además, se suman los planes de 12 y 18 cuotas sin interés.
Según el director de Olmo: “En el mercado argentino se vende entre un millón y un millón de medio de bicicletas. Este año no puedo arriesgar un número. Lo que si estoy seguro es que hay una demanda insatisfecha, nuestros clientes nos están tironeando para que les entreguemos mercadería. Creo que el mercado crecerá a los 2 millones en 2021 y para eso nos estamos preparando. Este año, producimos lo que se puede, sin pensar en lanzamientos ni desarrollos nuevos”.
Como apuestan al futuro ya se decidieron a invertir: “Sabemos que la venta se va a estabilizar en un nivel más alto. Estamos invirtiendo en logística interna, autoelevadores, dispositivos de almacenamiento, mantenimiento y reparación de equipos de back up, que los vamos a sumar. No está definido cuánto invertiremos, pero buscaremos un crédito. Pensamos en aumentar la producción un 50% para el año que viene. Tenemos la capacidad, nos falta el abastecimiento de partes y ya comenzamos a incorporar personal. La bici tiene bastante mano de obra y requiere mucha gente para el armado”, dijo Sergio Berman.
Olmo busca personal de diferentes áreas, desde responsables de sectores, de depósito, abastecimiento y mecánicos, que son los que hacen el armado de las bicicletas. En medio de la pandemia, esta Pyme de Morón busca cubrir puestos de trabajo y apuesta a crecer.
