La Academia le prohíbe a Will Smith asistir a entregas de los Oscar por 10 años
La Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas de Hollywood anunció este viernes que prohíbe al actor Will Smith asistir a la ceremonia de los premios Oscar durante los próximos 10 años debido al cachetazo que le dio al comediante Chris Rock en la pasada edición.
Según indicaron en un comunicado el presidente de la junta de la organización, David Rubin, y la directora ejecutiva, Dawn Hudson, durante esos diez años a Smith «no se le permitirá asistir a ningún evento o programa de la Academia, en persona o virtualmente, incluidos, entre otros, los Premios de la Academia».
De todas formas, la academia le mantiene el Oscar al mejor actor ganado el mes pasado por «King Richard» y tampoco se mencionó ninguna eventual sanción o impedimento para futuras nominaciones a los premios.
«La edición 94 de los Oscar estaba destinada a ser una celebración de las muchas personas de nuestra comunidad que hicieron un trabajo increíble el año pasado; sin embargo, esos momentos se vieron ensombrecidos por el comportamiento inaceptable y dañino del Sr. Smith que le vimos exhibir en el escenario», agregó la junta de la academia.
Además, los máximos directivos de la industria del cine estadounidense indicaron que «esta acción que estamos tomando hoy en respuesta al comportamiento de Will Smith es un paso hacia un objetivo más amplio de proteger la seguridad de nuestros artistas e invitados, y restaurar la confianza en la academia.
