La Federación Argentina de Yachting inauguró una base de entrenamientos en España

La Federación Argentina de Yachting (FAY) inauguró una base de entrenamientos para sus deportistas en Valencia, España, con miras a los Juegos Olímpicos de París 2024, y analiza la apertura de otra en Marsella, Francia, confirmó Alejandro Cloos, director técnico deportivo de la entidad, quien pronosticó que el país ganará muchas medallas en los Juegos Odesur de este año en Paraguay y en los Juegos Panamericanos de Chile 2023.
«Elegimos Valencia por condiciones de navegación, facilidad de idioma e idiosincrasia y el muy amplio rango en el año con condiciones aptas para la práctica de la vela», explicó Cloos en declaraciones a Télam.
Además -explicó- «la ciudad bien conectada en lo terrestre, aéreo y marítimo. El Real Club Náutico de Valencia tiene instalaciones muy adecuadas, con costos globales bajos para el promedio de Europa».

Cloos participó como entrenador de la FAY en seis JJOO (Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008, Londres 2012, Río de Janeiro 2016 y Tokio 2020) y en seis Juegos Panamericanos (Mar del Plata 95, Winnipeg 99, Río 2007, Guadalajara 2011, Toronto 2015 y Lima 2019).
El 20 de noviembre pasado, Cloos, de 60 años, se consagró subcampeón mundial en la clase Gran Master de la especialidad de vela Laser Standart, denominada actualmente como ILCA 7, en Barcelona, España.
Cloos compitió en la categoría de 55 a 65 años, entre 41 regatistas, y conquistó la medalla de plata con 58 puntos, y logró su mejor performance en campeonatos mundiales de la categoría, ya que la anterior fue en Canadá 2008 (14to puesto).
En otro tramo del diálogo con Télam, Cloos pronosticó que el país ganará muchas medallas en los Juegos Odesur de octubre, en Paraguay, y en los Juegos Panamericanos de Chile 2023.
«Recientemente se difundió la invitación y el aviso de regata de los próximos Juegos Odesur, en los cuales se está invitando a participar en las Clases ILCA 6 femenino, ILCA 7 masculino, sunfish masculino, sunfish femenino y snipe. La competencias de vela se realizarán en la Ciudad de Encarnación del 1 al 6 de octubre».
Y puntualizó: «Los Juegos Odesur son el primer escalón internacional del alto rendimiento y queremos participar con un equipo sólido. También tenemos los eventos de clasificación a los Panamericanos y los primeros eventos de preparación para los Juegos Olímpicos de París 2024».
«En los primeros meses de este año la FAY deberá determinar a los representantes, por lo que si alguien tiene intención de participar tiene que activar los entrenamientos sin demora», adelantó.
Además, Cloos se refirió a la actuación de los velistas argentinos en los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio.
«Se consiguieron tres diplomas olímpicos y nos posicionó en el concierto nacional como primeros de los deportes individuales», resaltó Cloos.
Finalmente, Cloos mostró su satisfacción por los logros que obtuvieron los juveniles argentinos en los Primeros Juegos Panamericanos Junior Cali 2021; el Sudamericano de Optimist de Mar del Plata y el Mundial de Omán.
«Estamos orgullosos y contentos por los logros alcanzados y sabemos que estos juveniles pronto integrarán los planteles de mayores», admitió.
En Cali, Colombia, donde compitieron jóvenes de entre 18 y 21 años, la vela argentina conquistó una medallas de oro, otra de plata y la restante de bronce.
En Mar del Plata, con más de 170 participantes de 16 países, Argentina ganó el Campeonato Sudamericano de la clase Optimist por equipos, que estuvo integrado por Lucas Contardi, Lucas Vogt, Francina Paz, Delfina Kuttel y Julieta Benedetto.
Además, Franco Sánchez, de 14 años y representante de Club Náutico Mar del Plata, , ganó la medalla de oro y Julieta Benedetto, de Club Veleros Barlovento, de 13 años, recibió una premiación especial por ser la primera femenina.
En Omán, tres tripulaciones del seleccionado argentino quedaron en el top 10 de sus respectivas clases: la dupla integrada por los bonaerenses Tadeo Funes de Rioja (17 años) y Máximo Videla (17) logró el quinto puesto en la clase 29er; el binomio conformado por las porteñas Amparo Stupenengo, de 17 años, y Julia Pantin, de 16, quedó octavo, en 29er femenino y la bahiense María Catalina Turienzo, de 15 años, obtuvo el séptimo lugar en Fórmula Kite.
«Desde lo económico 2021 fue un año muy duro para poder presentarse en eventos internacionales pero las preparaciones deportivas se realizaron en Argentina con mucha fuerza por parte de los técnicos y deportistas que trabajaron planes de entrenamiento con miras a los mejores resultados internacionales», asegura.
«Estamos orgullosos y contentos por los logros alcanzados y sabemos que estos juveniles pronto integrarán los planteles de mayores», finalizó Cloos.
