La cartera que encabeza Juan Cabandié detalló a través de un comunicado que la medida «busca generar impactos positivos ambientales a través de la recuperación de residuos termoplásticos, cuyos productos procesados serán empleados en las redes de transporte ferroviarias nacionales».
“El Ministerio de Ambiente y el de Transporte resolvieron una declaración de interés y un acompañamiento explícito a iniciativas empresariales que permiten la fabricación de durmientes a partir de plástico recuperado”, afirmó Sergio Federovisky, secretario de Control y Monitoreo Ambiental.
Además, agregó que ello es trascendente “porque permite poner en práctica la economía circular” y detalló que sirve a la reducción de los impactos de la deforestación y del cambio climático.
Indicó además que esas variantes sintéticas poseen “la misma resistencia y performance” que los utilizados tradicionalmente y son “ecológicamente sanos y productivamente valiosos”.
Según la cartera ambiental, la iniciativa «aporta beneficios en materia de gestión integral de residuos urbanos, al reducir la cantidad de desechos termoplásticos destinados a los predios de disposición final, los cuales por sus características, tardan cientos de años en degradarse».
El proyecto además «contribuye a la recuperación de aquellos residuos domiciliarios que sirven como materiales para la elaboración de los durmientes sintéticos».
También se prevé la utilización de envases vacíos de fitosanitarios «en aquellos casos en los que su tipología y el producto que contuviera antes lo permitieran, fomentando la valorización de los mismos, que requiere un tratamiento diferenciado».
