Primera planta de producción de cannabis medicinal del país
El Gobierno habilitó a la empresa Cannava, una sociedad estatal controlada por la provincia de Jujuy, a producir y procesar cannabis medicinal que podrá comercializarse en todo el país.
La compañía -que cuenta con una capacidad productiva anual de 80 toneladas de inflorescencias medicinales y cerca de 4 mil kilos de ingredientes farmacéuticos activos- logró la habilitación de la Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnología Médica (ANMAT).
La sociedad estatal, cuyas operaciones se desarrollan íntegramente en la provincia de Jujuy, fue creada por el gobernador Gerardo Morales a fines de 2018. Con una inversión pública de más de US$20 millones, cuenta con los sistemas tecnológicos de cultivo, procesamiento y elaboración farmacéutica más avanzados del país.
La ANMAT realizó una auditoría técnica y regulatoria durante dos años, que fue la que posibilitó la habilitación nacional de Cannava como establecimiento elaborador de cannabis medicinal, el primero del país.
«No sólo Jujuy sino que la Argentina como país pasa a estar en el radar internacional de la producción de cannabis medicinal de grado farmacéutico. Cannava nació bajo la premisa de aplicar la ciencia a la producción de productos farmacéuticos, en una escala industrial. Sólo de esa forma podremos competir con la industria internacional para garantizar acceso seguro y asequible al cannabis medicinal» señaló Morales.
Desde diciembre de 2021, el primer producto vegetal de industria nacional derivado de cannabis, denominado Cannava CBD10 y elaborado íntegramente en Jujuy, se comercializa en todas las farmacias de la provincia.
Este producto ya se utiliza hoy para tratar no solo epilepsia sino también dolores crónicos, ansiedad, mejorar la calidad del sueño, síndromes gastrointestinales, coadyuvar en tratamientos oncológicos y tratamientos odontológicos, entre otros usos.
Durante el año pasado, el Gobierno de Jujuy aprobó una guía de manejo clínico que concentra indicaciones terapéuticas por patología, en base a todos los estudios clínicos y la evidencia internacional disponible.
También, puso en funcionamiento los primeros consultorios públicos permanentes focalizados en el tratamiento para pacientes de epilepsia y celebró un acuerdo con el instituto de medicina trasnacional de la Universidad Austral para la investigación del dolor oncológico.
En junio de este año, luego de más de cuatro años de ensayos agrícolas y ajustes de manejo agronómico, se completó la primera cosecha de 35 hectáreas, que arrojó un total de 36.000 kilos de inflorescencias para extracción farmacéutica. En agosto se inició a la segunda cosecha anual y Cannava fue seleccionada como una de las nueve mejores compañías de cannabis medicinal de Latinoamérica, destacó el Poder Ejecutivo provincial. (NA)
