En homenaje a Mercedes Sosa
Esa noche y contra todo protocolo, Cafrune aprovechó su popularidad y avisó: «Yo me voy a atrever, porque es un atrevimiento lo que voy a hacer ahora y voy a recibir un tirón de orejas de la comisión, pero qué le vamos a hacer. Siempre he sido galopeador contra el viento. Los voy a ofrecer el canto de una mujer purísima, que no ha tenido oportunidad de darlo. Aunque se arme bronca, voy a dejar con ustedes a una tucumana: Mercedes Sosa».
Y «La Negra», que ya era conocida por piezas como «La voz de la zafra» y «Canciones con fundamento» y resistida por razones políticas, hizo el resto entonando «Canción del derrumbe indio», de Fernando Figueredo Iramain, una pieza que integraba el incipiente Movimiento del Nuevo Cancionero.
Ese gesto del vocalista jujeño para con la intérprete tucumana no solamente introdujo a Mercedes para siempre en el universo de Cosquín sino que marcó una modalidad generosa y audaz que la propia Sosa adoptó como santo y seña en su descomunal camino artístico por escenarios y estudios de grabación del mundo.
Nacida el 9 de julio de 1935, se formó estéticamente dentro del Movimiento del Nuevo Cancionero, una corriente renovadora del folclore y socialmente comprometida surgida en la provincia de Mendoza y que compartió con Armando Tejada Gómez, su esposo Manuel Oscar Matus y Tito Francia.
Dueña de una voz impresionante, Sosa no abandonó jamás lo testimonial pero no se contentó con ir abrazando las vertientes folclóricas nativas sino que abrió el abanico sonoro y expresivo para sumar a su halo popular y exquisito a autores locales e internacionales de diversos estilos que hallaron un cauce en su mágica interpretación.
Ni la persecución política ni el exilio al que fue empujada en 1979 tras publicar «Serenata para la tierra de uno» y ser detenida en la ciudad de La Plata junto con todo el público que había ido a escucharla, y que la llevó a París primero y a radicarse en Madrid en 1980, detuvieron ese andar.
A su regreso en febrero de 1982 con una docena de recitales en el Teatro Ópera, convidó a León Gieco, Charly García, Rodolfo Mederos y Ariel Ramírez, y enseguida impulsó a los entonces no tan conocidos trovadores cubanos Silvio Rodríguez y Pablo Milanés y a incipientes creadores como Víctor Heredia, Teresa Parodi, Antonio Tarragó Ros, Raúl Carnota, Suna Rocha y Peteco Carabajal, entre más.
Pero, además, fue por otros colores musicales que abrazó con la misma calidad y entrega integrando a Luis Alberto Spinetta, Fito Páez, Pedro Aznar, Gustavo Santaolalla, Alejandro Lerner y David Lebón.
Y se enlazó con nuevas expresiones de la música nativa compartiendo con Liliana Herrero, Duende Garnica, Demi Carabajal, Jorge Fandermole, el dúo Orozco-Barrientos, Coqui Sosa, Marcelo Perea, Alberto Rojo, Franco Luciani, Motta Luna, Sebastián Garay, María Eugenia Fernández, Bruno Arias, Jesús Hidalgo y Bebe Ponti, por citar apenas a algunas.
Sosa falleció, a los 74 años, el 4 de octubre de 2009 a raíz de una disfunción renal, pero como dijo Liliana Herrero a Télam «Mercedes es de las que no se van y ella será tan eterna como Gardel y cada día cantará mejor».
«Ella poseía un timbre que producía un efecto inmediato, tenía una condición excepcional, era un llamado, un cobijo, un consuelo y una memoria de reivindicaciones del espíritu colectivo y también de una época. Era el espejo viviente que esa voz le ofrecía a millones de voces, se transformaba en justicia, en verdad, en memoria. Es el otro nombre que tienen los momentos fundamentales de una comunidad, de sus conflictos, de sus tragedias, de sus reencuentros, de sus luchas», destacó Herrero.
En un sentido similar, otra colega del canto, Suna Rocha, indicó a esta agencia que Sosa «era una especie de pachamama de carne y hueso con esa capacidad maravillosa de transmitir, de aglutinar, gracias a una voz única, que no se va a repetir».
También desde la interpretación Silvia Iriondo apuntó a Télam que «de la voz de Mercedes no se vuelve. Todo se hace bello en sus aires, el sonido de su voz reúne, es identidad, cultura, terruño. Todo un país canta en ella. Su canto social, profundo y combativo es referente distintivo y determinante en la canción de los pueblos americanos».
Otra cantante, Laura Albarracín, arriesgó que la de «La Negra» «es la voz que no se fue nunca»: «La que apostó por la belleza, decir lo que se debe decir y cantar lo que se debe cantar. Es un orgullo pertenecer al mismo lugar que el de la madre voz, Mercedes Sosa, la madre patria».
Por su parte, la catamarqueña Nadia Larcher consignó a Télam que «Mercedes es nuestra matria libre. Sin ella, sin su voz, ¿Cuál sería el destino del canto? Celebramos a Mercedes. Celebramos su vida porque sigue cantando para nosotros aún después de la muerte, porque no pudieron callarla y ese es el legado más profundo de su voz latinoamericana. Nos seguirá pidiendo que cantemos, que cantemos para que nadie silencie la voz del pueblo».
«Me defino cantora por Mercedes ya que ella es un faro para mí. Siento que pude sentir cuán importante fue y es la misión de Mercedes como artista, mujer y argentina», apoyó la santafesina Patricia Gómez.
