Un profesor de California daba una clase a un grupo de estudiantes del Fresno City College. Mediante un correo electrónico les hizo saber su nueva regla durante las clases online por la pandemia: todos debían tener las cámaras y micrófonos de sus computadoras encendidos para demostrar la asistencia.
Sin embargo, una estudiante se decidió a responder a ese correo con todas las consecuencias. Marcella Maris, una alumna que también es madre de una niña de 10 meses le indicó vía email que estaba de acuerdo con su norma, pero que en su caso tendría que apagar en algunos momentos la cámara para amamantar a su bebé.
Ante esta petición, el profesor se mostró inflexible y le dio una respuesta rotunda: «Eso no es lo que debes estar haciendo durante la clase. Hazlo en tu tiempo libre», ha contado la joven en su cuenta de Instagram donde ha publicado una foto con su hija comiendo para demostrar que sí se puede concentrar en clases mientras da el pecho a su niña.
Sin embargo, esta alumna se ha quejado de sentirse «humillada» y «discriminada» ante esta situación y ha dado a conocer los hechos a la CNN en una entrevista, además de su difusión en las redes sociales.
